Office of Advocacy
UI/UX Website
Modernization
01
The Problem
The Office of Advocacy's website, originally implemented as an extension of sba.gov and used mostly as a blog, evolved into publishing more informative content to inform small business stakeholders of current regulatory issues and concerns, and the work Advocacy was doing apart from SBA to advocate on behalf of small business.
As technology and accessibility standards advanced over time, Advocacy realized the state of their communications needed to as well. The existing website had extremely low accessibility scores and an unfavorable user experience, pushing Advocacy to explore restructuring their website until funding becomes available to build a new, fully-accessible website.

The Solution
Through ideation, research, SWOT & competitor analysis, card sorting activities, journey mapping, low-fidelity wireframing, mock-up samples, prototypes were designed with fully customizable pages, including the home page. Multiple rounds of usability testing were conducted, and the new design is a direct result of the research, user data, and feedback collected.
